Qualifications
Education
- Technical or vocational training in telecommunications, electronics, electrical, or related fields
Licensure
- Professional LTO driving license
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in outside plant construction with a focus on cable laying
Competencies
- Relevant certifications, such as Fiber Optic Technician Certification (FOT), OSHA safety certifications, Tesda NC II related to electricity, mechanical or electronics, and other related industry certifications
Physical Effort / Working Conditions
- 40% spent in the office, 60% in the field
Job Description
- Cable laying and infrastructure installation. Lay and install hardline fiber optic cables, coaxial cables, copper cables, and other outside plant infrastructure components, adhering to project specifications and safety guidelines
- Conduct site surveys to assess the most efficient and practical routing for OSP cables, considering factors like distance, obstacles, and safety
- Perform cable splicing, termination, and routing as necessary for optimal network connectivity
- Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure the reliability and longevity of cable and infrastructure components
- Participate in the expansion, rehabilitation, and upgrading of the outside plant network to accommodate increasing demand and technology advancements
- Identify and address issues related to outside plant network integrity and connectivity
- Utilize specialized testing equipment to verify cable connectivity and diagnose issues related to cable performance
- Troubleshoot technical problems related to cable laying and coordinate with team members to resolve issues promptly
- Manage and maintain tools, equipment, and materials required for installations and repairs, ensuring they are in good working condition
- Provide updates on cable laying project progress and issues as necessary
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and customer interactions, including service orders and work completion reports
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to protect yourself and others from potential hazards associated with outdoor construction work, especially during cable laying
- Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly
- Stay updated on the latest construction methodology and industry developments through training and self-improvement efforts
- Drive assigned company vehicle to work area and be responsible for its maintenance and security
- Perform other job-related tasks assigned by the immediate superior as required
