JOB SUMMARY
In this role, the Technical Support Officer acts as a technical assistant/coordinator to project managers, taking care of technical desk work, documentation verification, compliance tracking, and technical prep work so project managers can focus on high-level decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Submittal & RFI Pre-Screening
- RFI Preparation & Tracking: Draft, review, and organize technical Requests for Information (RFIs) on behalf of the project management team before sending them to design consultants or clients.
- Submittal Vetting: Pre-screen subcontractor shop drawings, material data sheets, and Method Statements for completeness and specification alignment before passing them to the Project Manager for final sign-off.
- Technical Log Maintenance: Maintain accurate, up-to-date tracking logs for RFIs, technical submittals, change requests, and design variations to keep PMs informed of approval statuses.
Design Change & Variation Technical Evaluation
- Technical Impact Assessment: Assist PMs in reviewing proposed technical design changes, material substitutions, or value-engineering proposals by evaluating their technical feasibility against original specs.
- Quantity & Scope Take-offs: Perform basic digital quantity take-offs and technical measurements from drawings to assist PMs in evaluating subcontractor variation claims or cost impacts.
- Drawing Revision Comparison: Perform overlay audits (e.g., via Bluebeam) on revised drawing packages to highlight exact technical scope changes for the PM team.
Compliance & Technical Reporting Support
- Technical Status Reports: Prepare technical summaries, submittal approval matrices, and engineering risk summaries for inclusion in monthly PM reports to clients or executives.
- Specification Compliance Audits: Cross-check supplier factory test certificates, mill certificates, and third-party lab results against project requirements to ensure the PM team maintains full legal and quality compliance records.
- As-Built & Handover Package Assembly: Coordinate and compile technical handover documentation (maintenance manuals, warranties, approved as-built drawings, test records) required for project closeout.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum degree holder of any Engineering or Architectural Course
- Minimum of 2-3yrs relevant experience in Construction Management
- Must be Licensed and registered by PRC
