About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Superintendent ( Must hold Class 1/2 COC - Engine) to join our Singapore-based office-Japanese Owner. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a technically competent marine professional to work closely with vessel managers, charterers, classification societies, service providers, and ship owners in ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the fleet. The Technical Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing technical matters, coordinating with vessel management, Over See managing maintenance schedules of the vessel and ensuring adherence to all maritime regulations and company standards. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on our operational excellence and safety performance across the fleet.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the overall technical condition, safety, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness of assigned vessels.
- Monitor vessel performance and ensure maintenance is carried out in accordance with company requirements and industry standards.
- Coordinate repair, maintenance, and servicing activities under the guidance of the Fleet Manager.
- Attend vessels whenever required and represent the Owner during dry-docking projects and major repairs.
- Prepare and manage annual technical budgets, including repairs, maintenance, dry-docking, stores, and spare parts.
- Monitor vessel operating expenses and implement cost optimization measures without compromising safety, reliability, or compliance.
- Liaise with vendors, classification societies, service providers, and ship managers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of stores, spares, and technical services.
- Develop a thorough understanding of Time Charter Party (TCP) terms and conditions and coordinate with charterers regarding vessel requirements and operational matters.
- Monitor crewing-related expenses, crew changes, sign-off arrangements, and associated budgets to ensure cost-effective operations.
- During vessel visits, repairs, or dry-docking projects, manage all local technical matters, supervise repairs and maintenance, and conduct comprehensive vessel inspections.
What we're looking for
- Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) as per Singapore's policy of maintaining a strong local workforce core.
- Minimum of 2 years of sea-going experience as Chief Engineer on tanker, Chemical Tanker vessels.
- Holder of a valid Class 1 Certificate of Competency (COC) - Engine.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Technical Superintendent or in a similar shore-based technical role.
- Strong troubleshooting, technical problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and commitment towards vessel performance and compliance.
- Willingness to travel internationally at short notice for vessel visits, inspections, repairs, and dry-docking activities.
