Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent tertiary qualification. Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration with strong technical knowledge in the field of manufacturing.
Profound knowledge and experience in sourcing of technical parts and systems
At least 5+ years of work experience as technical purchaser
Experience in different industries and areas, e.g. Automotive, sheet metal fabrication, mechanical machining parts, etc.
Experience in ERP (e.g. SAP, Odoo or similar) system based purchasing procedures
Source, evaluate, and purchase materials, components, equipment, and services required for production or projects.
Prepare and issue Request for Quotations (RFQs) and analyze supplier bids based on cost, quality, and delivery terms
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery schedules with vendors to achieve cost efficiency and production needs
Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs) to ensure correct procurement of parts and equipment
Liaise with engineering, production and other related departments to clarify technical requirements
Sourcing of potential suppliers for parts and systems and initiate potential supplier shortlist for project team assessment and qualification;
Initiate supplier assessment (background check, legal), supplier qualification assessment and select qualified suppliers to meet project and department requirements with project team
Early involvement in project and work proactively with cross-functional team members to ensure lowest project procurement cost;
Implement continuous cost reduction programs in order to achieve savings
Permanently exploit new supplier alternatives to achieve significant advantages in serial delivery
