The purpose of the position is to lead the Global AP Issue Resolution team of Accounts Payable (AP), ensuring that invoices with issues are resolved in a timely manner to meet the payment due date. The leader will execute day‑to‑day AP processes and quality controls, resolve operational issues and escalations, and ensure the quality and timeliness of AP financial closing activities.
The role requires a leader with experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) operations in similar GBS or Shared Service organizations. It will be under the Finance team of Vestas Shared Service Center, supporting Vestas globally, and will collaborate closely with colleagues, internal and external stakeholders across different time zones and geographies.
AP Operational Responsibilities
- Lead the Finance operations team of the Global AP Issue Resolution team, empowering, coaching, developing, and engaging staff for better collaboration and performance output.
- Execute day‑to‑day AP processes, particularly AP issue resolution such as handling parked invoices, missing goods receiving, missing invoice copies, supplier disputes, etc., ensuring these are handled accurately, timely, and in accordance with controls requirements and global financial guidelines.
- Maintain up‑to‑date process documentation and cascade process refresher trainings in a timely manner for all processors involved.
- Promote automation and process standardization across AP teams, leveraging technology to improve processes and drive automation.
Service Management Responsibilities
- Manage and resolve escalations, ensuring timely response to emails, queries, or tickets assigned with proper root cause analysis and actions to mitigate risks and recurring escalations.
- Promote collaboration across Finance teams, Procurement, External Suppliers, Digital Solutions, and other Procure‑to‑Pay groups to improve process efficiency and user experience.
- Own the performance of the Accounts Payable Issue Resolution team, ensuring dashboards are correctly reported and root‑cause actions are regularly reviewed and discussed to improve team performance. Facilitate service‑management meetings within Finance SSC.
- Identify customer needs and pain points in AP, evaluating customer satisfaction and performance delivery through surveys, month‑end reviews, or stakeholder feedback.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Lead discussions with key stakeholders such as Procurement, Transport, Digital Solutions, P&C, External Suppliers, etc., to turn insights into actions and make important decisions.
- Identify cost‑saving and efficiency improvement opportunities within the AP teams.
Leadership and Development
- Track and report employee development and performance management through monitoring of team and individual KPIs and SLAs, determining the team's development requirements.
- Ensure effective people management and development of the team, including staffing and selection, integration of new staff, provision of feedback, and management of people issues to foster a positive team culture focused on business understanding of the work performed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accountancy, finance, business management or related area. Certifications such as CPA, CMA, MBA, CIA, RCA, CTT are beneficial.
- Solid background in Finance Operations of Accounts Payable within similar Shared Service or GBS industries.
- At least five years of leadership experience in handling operations teams.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and execute actions for the function.
- Prioritizes customer focus and a clear service delivery mindset.
- Establish effective working relationships within the team and with stakeholders, and the ability to say no when necessary to prevent process deviations and non‑adherence.
