Job summary

PeopleStrong is seeking a maintenance technician to support critical rolling mills and related equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose mechanical issues, and execute repairs to ensure continuous production and safety.

The role requires hands-on mechanical skills, strict adherence to safety standards, and coordination with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high mechanical availability of Hot Rolling Mill, Cold rolling Mill, finishing line, soaking pits, scalper and stiffleg crane.
• Perform preventive maintenance and timely repairs to minimize downtime.
• Log maintenance activities accurately and report to shift engineers.
• Coordinate with production and electrical teams for quick turnaround.
• Support during shutdowns and major mechanical projects.

Job description

To support the mechanical maintenance and smooth functioning of critical equipment including the Hot Rolling Mill, Cold rolling mill, finishing line, Soaking Pits, Scalper, Stiffleg Crane and utility. This role ensures reliable operation through preventive maintenance, timely repairs, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems, minimizing machine downtime while upholding safety, quality, and operational efficiency

Key Result Areas/Accountabilities

Supporting Actions

Equipment Availability & Uptime

• Ensure high mechanical availability of Hot Rolling Mill,cold rolling Mill, finishing line,soaking pits, scalper, and stiffleg crane through timely preventive and breakdown maintenance.
• Target minimal downtime and quick restoration of operations after mechanical failures.

Breakdown Response & Troubleshooting

• Follow scheduled preventive maintenance plans to avoid unplanned breakdowns.
• Maintain accurate logs and documentation for all maintenance activities.
• Respond quickly and effectively to mechanical issues, identifying root causes and implementing solutions with minimal delay.
• Coordinate with production and electrical teams to ensure quick turnaround.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety procedures while working in high-risk zones like soaking pits and under heavy machinery.
• Ensure all tools, equipment, and procedures comply with company and industry safety standards.

Mechanical Integrity & Quality

• Maintain proper alignment, lubrication, and calibration of mechanical parts.
• Ensure that repairs meet quality standards and reduce recurring issues.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, failures, and corrective actions.
• Provide timely reports to shift engineers or supervisors for review and planning.

Spare Parts & Tool Management

• Ensure availability of critical spare parts and tools required for emergency repairs.
• Raise requisitions for parts and report shortages proactively.

Support During Shutdowns & Projects

• Assist in planned shutdowns for overhauls, installations, or major mechanical projects.
• Support execution of improvement initiatives in coordination with engineers.
