Job Description
- A Stall Attendant works in various retail or food-selling environments such as markets, fairs, food stalls, or kiosks. They are responsible for providing customer service, ensuring the stall is well-stocked and organized, handling transactions, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the stall area.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service:
- Greet and assist customers with a friendly, professional demeanor.
- Provide information about products or services available at the stall.
- Assist customers in selecting and purchasing items.
- Answer customer questions and resolve any concerns or issues they may have.
- Sales and Cash Handling:
- Process sales transactions accurately, including cash, credit card, or other forms of payment.
- Maintain an organized cash register or point-of-sale system.
- Keep track of sales and report to the manager or stall owner at the end of the day.
- Promote sales and encourage customers to return to the stall.
- Product Maintenance and Display:
- Ensure that products are neatly displayed and easily accessible to customers.
- Replenish stock as needed and ensure the stall is fully stocked with inventory.
- Check product quality and remove expired or damaged items.
- Keep the display area clean and visually appealing.
- Cleaning and Organization:
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the stall, including wiping down surfaces, cleaning shelves, and disposing of waste properly.
- Organize products, supplies, and equipment in a way that allows easy access and meets safety standards.
- Ensure that hygiene standards are met, especially in food-related stalls.
- Inventory Management:
- Assist with stocktaking and inventory management to ensure products are available and restocked in a timely manner.
- Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is generally required.
- Previous retail or customer service experience is an asset, especially in stalls or markets, but not always mandatory.
- Training may be provided on-site depending on the employer and type of stall.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Customer Service Skills: Ability to provide excellent service and engage with customers positively.
- Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication, both with customers and team members.
- Cash Handling and Basic Math: Ability to handle transactions accurately and manage cash or point-of-sale systems.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift or move boxes, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring that products are well-organized, clean, and in good condition.
