Job summary

Confluent is seeking a Staff Software Engineer I to technically lead the evolution of the Confluent Platform, with deep ownership of USM, hybrid-first management, and platform-wide operational capabilities. You will collaborate with product and engineering leadership to define the CP roadmap and drive enterprise-grade reliability and security across multi-cloud deployments.

Qualifications

10+ years of hands-on software development experience in large-scale systems.
BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in open-source development and production systems.
Ability to lead architectural decisions and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

Technically lead the evolution of the Confluent Platform with ownership of USM and platform-wide operations.
Define and execute the CP roadmap in collaboration with product and leadership.
Architect and design large, distributed systems spanning Kubernetes, security, and observability.
Mentor senior engineers and technical leads, providing hands-on guidance.
Represent engineering leadership in India and uphold execution standards.
Build scalable processes enabling teams to operate at scale with quality and speed.
