Job summary

Verkada is seeking an experienced manager to join the Core Platform team. You will architect, design, and lead a broad range of projects enabling Verkada's operating system for buildings, with a focus on scalable web platforms and delightful user experiences.

You will mentor engineers, contribute code, and collaborate with Product and Design to ship features that protect people and assets globally. This role blends leadership with hands-on development in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience managing, leading, and inspiring a team of engineers; including hiring, retaining, and managing performance.
• 8+ years of work experience in a software engineering roles
• Experience with both backend and frontend
• Experience working in an agile team software development environment
• Eye for design, product details, and polish
• Working knowledge of at least one server-side framework and one database system

Responsibilities

• Lead projects impacting our Command product—involving frontend and backend engineers.
• Be able to roll up sleeves and actively write code or prototype new features.
• Inspire your team to create highly polished and delightful user experiences.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to build and ship features and delight users and customers.
• Define, communicate, and execute goals, priorities and process with other engineering leaders.
• Drive adoption of best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their impact on our web platforms.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and career growth within the team.
