Job summary

Hammerjack Pty Ltd is seeking a Staff Software Engineer focused on the AI Backend within Maya’s Platform Engineering context. You will drive the design of internal microSaaS platforms, integrate AI thoughtfully, and guide engineers toward scalable, high‑quality systems.

This role emphasizes architectural thinking and hands‑on leadership across Java and Python stacks. You will partner with internal teams, build reliable AWS infrastructure, and explore emerging tools and models to improve

Qualifications

Experience designing and building high‑reliability developer platforms.
Ability to embed AI into platforms to improve velocity.
Strong stakeholder collaboration with internal teams.
Proven leadership, mentorship, and hands‑on coding ability.

Responsibilities

Architect, develop, and maintain internal microSaaS platforms using Java and Python.
Identify opportunities to embed AI for automation and scalability (code reviews, scaling, docs).
Partner with internal engineering teams to deliver productive platforms end‑to‑end.
Design scalable AWS infrastructure for internal systems.
Prototype new tools, frameworks, and models and decide production eligibility.
Lead and mentor engineers in backend excellence and AI implementation.
