Are you a backend engineering expert who knows how to build high‑scale systems—and also understands how to strategically inject AI where it adds real value Maya's Platform Engineering team is looking for a Staff Software Engineer focused on our AI Backend to help build the internal platforms that power our entire developer ecosystem.

This is a role for someone who can think big picture, design foundational systems, and use AI as a force multiplier—not a crutch.

What You'll Be Doing

As a key technical leader in our Platform Engineering team, you will:

• Build Internal MicroSaaS Platforms. Architect, develop, and maintain high‑reliability developer platforms using Java and Python.
• Integrate AI Where It Matters Most. Identify smart opportunities to embed AI—automated code reviews, predictive scaling, intelligent documentation, and more—to transform platform velocity.
• Partner With Internal Engineering Stakeholders. Treat engineering teams as your customers. Understand their needs and deliver platforms that elevate their productivity end‑to‑end.
• Design Scalable AWS Infrastructure. Ensure our internal systems remain secure, resilient, and future‑ready.
• Experiment With Emerging Tech. Prototype new tools, frameworks, and models—deciding what makes it to production and what stays in the lab.
• Lead & Mentor. Guide engineers in backend excellence, architectural thinking, and modern AI implementation.
