Virlanie Foundation, Inc. in Dasmariñas, Cavite seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. You will implement individualized plans, utilize behavior strategies, and prepare materials for engaging class sessions.
You will collaborate with social workers, occupational therapists, and SPED teachers to promote educational, physical, and social development. Regular progress reporting and coordination of activities are essential aspects of the role.
1. Teaches socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement strategies.
2. Prepares materials and classrooms for class activities.
3. Consults with the Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, SpED Teacher 2 and professionals to prepare the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) of the students to promote students’ educational, physical and social development.
4. Teaches students through one on one session and groups of two or three depending on the activities.
5. Teaches students vocational training such as candle making and other skills that maybe adaptable to the students capability.
6. Involves special education strategies and techniques during teaching to improve development of sensory and perceptual motor skills, language, cognition and memory.
7. Observes and evaluates students’ performance, behavior, social development and physical health.
8. Maintains accurate and completes student records and prepares reports on students and activities as required by Jade Home.
9. Evaluates and recommends students to be enrolled in public schools or regular school set up.
10. Coordinates with the school teachers for the students’ participation in school activities such as District Meet, Recognition, activities of ASP (Autism Society of the Phils).
11. Co-facilitates supplemental activities in occupational therapy such as social skills and junior staff training and others.
12. Maintains a quarterly inventory of educational supplies and equipment.
13. Facilitates making of cards and letters of sponsored children as required by the Sponsorship Program.
14. Prepares and facilitates Theme Parties /Activities such as Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Christmas Day; graduation and recognition ceremonies, celebrations of United Nation’s Day, Linggo ng Wika and other activities related to education.
15. Prepares monthly reports on the progress of individual student and activities as required by the Foundation.
16. Supervises, coaches and evaluates job performance of interns or practicum students in Special Education from partner universities.
