Job summary

Akamai Technologies GmbH is seeking a Software Engineer II to design, build, and deploy scalable, reliable software on Akamai infrastructure. You will collaborate with architects to refine requirements, implement features, and conduct unit testing to ensure high performance and maintainability.

You will work in an agile sprint environment, interact with cross-functional teams, and contribute to solving complex problems while staying ahead of emerging technologies such as AI and LLM-powered

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• Proficient experience in developing applications using Java, Spring, JavaScript and databases.
• Experience in front-end technologies like Angular/Bootstrap/ReactJS.
• Exposure to building LLM-powered applications and AI agents with MCP servers.
• Knowledge of Python, Perl or PHP with exposure to AI coding tools.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm for learning emerging technologies and using Linux shell commands.

Responsibilities

• Create new features or enhance existing functionality from design through testing and deployment.
• Interact with development, product management, architecture, QA, and support teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Work in an agile sprint environment to deliver quality software regularly.
• Engage in enhancement and bug fixes of existing applications and resolve complex technical problems.
• Measure, maintain and optimize distributed system performance across diverse languages as needed.

As a Software Engineer II at Akamai, you will design, build, and deploy highly scalable, reliable, and user-friendly solutions on our infrastructure. You'll collaborate with architects to refine requirements, architect solutions, implement features, and conduct unit testing to ensure high performance and maintainability. In this role, you'll also stay ahead of emerging technologies, integrating them as needed to drive innovation and efficiency.

As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Creating new features, or enhance existing functionality, from design through testing and deployment.
• Interacting with development, product management, architecture, QA, and support teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Working in an agile sprint environment to deliver quality software on a regular and consistent basis.
• Involving in enhancement and bug fixes of existing applications and understanding and resolving complex technical problems.
• Measuring, maintaining and optimizing distributed system performance and working in diverse nature of programming languages as needed.

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 2+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
• Have proficient experience in developing applications using Java, Spring, JavaScript & databases.
• Have experience in working on front end technologies like Angular/bootstrap/ReactJS.
• Have exposure to building LLM-powered applications and AI agents, including MCP servers that integrate models with external tools, data sources, and APIs.
• Have knowledge of one or more web programming languages such as Python, Perl or Php with exposure to AI coding tools.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm for learning, understanding, and analyzing emerging technologies independently while utilizing build tools and Linux Shell commands effectively.
