The Solar Manager is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and performance management of the 162 MWp solar PV plant at the Bhopalgarh facility. The role ensures maximum energy generation, high plant availability, and compliance with technical and regulatory requirements through effective management of solar technicians and maintenance contractors.
2.KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the daily operation and maintenance of the 162 MWp solar PV plant including PV modules, inverters, combiner boxes, and DC/AC electrical systems
- Develop and execute preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance programs for all solar assets
- Monitor plant performance via SCADA and energy monitoring systems; conduct performance ratio (PR) analysis and yield loss investigations
- Manage vegetation, soiling, and module cleaning programs to maximise energy output
- Lead inspection programs including drone thermal imaging, IV curve tracing, and EL testing
- Supervise solar O&M technicians and coordinate with third‑party service contractors
- Manage the solar O&M budget, spare parts inventory, and equipment procurement
- Coordinate with the grid/substation team for plant dispatch, reactive power control, and curtailment management
- Ensure electrical safety compliance for DC/AC solar systems, LOTO procedures, and HSE obligations
- Support commissioning activities, string testing, and performance verification during startup
3.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in solar PV plant operations and maintenance
- At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity within utility-scale solar
- Hands‑on experience with large-scale solar PV plants (>50 MWp preferred)
- Experience with central inverter and string inverter platforms from major OEMs (SMA, ABB, Huawei, Sungrow solarEdge, or equivalent)
- Commissioning experience for utility-scale solar PV projects is an advantage
4.TECHNICAL COMPETENCY CRITERIA
- Strong knowledge of solar PV technology: monocrystalline/bifacial modules, central/string inverters, DC combiner boxes, and AC systems
- Proficiency in SCADA systems, energy monitoring platforms, and solar performance modelling tools (PVsyst, PlantPredict, or equivalent)
- Knowledge of electrical testing equipment: IV tracers, insulation resistance testers, thermal cameras, and multimeters
- Understanding of IEC 61724 (PV performance monitoring) and IEC 62446 (PV system commissioning and testing)
- Competency in analysing generation data, PR curves, and specific yield benchmarks
- Knowledge of DC electrical safety, arc flash hazards, and solar‑specific HSE procedures
5.EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Renewable Energy. Relevant technical qualifications with strong solar industry experience will be considered.
