Job description

The SHE Transformation Coach will drive operational safety excellence across assigned operating assets by supporting the implementation of enterprise SHE standards, systems, and critical risk requirements while guiding site teams to consistently apply approved governance and procedures. A core focus of the role involves building workforce competency—spanning leaders, supervisors, permit authorities, contractors, and site SHE personnel—through structured coaching, practical demonstrations, and workplace mentoring. Operationally, the Coach provides hands‑on guidance during the planning and execution of high‑risk work to strengthen hazard identification, task risk assessment, and critical control execution.

Administrative & Coordination Scope

Beyond field coaching, the role handles end‑to‑end administration and coordination for the site safety transformation program. The Coach manages coaching schedules, training logistics, and cross‑departmental coordination between site leadership, contractors, and central SHE teams. This includes tracking performance metrics, maintaining competency databases, coordinating audit schedules, and serving as the primary operational liaison for Enterprise/National SHE initiatives.

To ensure continuous improvement and compliance, the Coach conducts robust field verifications, including PTW audits, leadership walkabouts, and critical control reviews. A significant emphasis is placed on leadership development, specifically coaching frontline leaders/supervisors and Site Senior Leaders to cultivate visible safety leadership and foster true ownership of critical risks. Furthermore, the role manages change by supporting the rollout of new enterprise safety initiatives, driving behavioral adoption, and embedding sustainable practices into daily operations.

Finally, the Coach promotes organizational learning by facilitating incident investigation coaching, capturing lessons learned, identifying systemic implementation gaps, and recommending strategic refinements to enterprise SHE standards.

Part 2: Deliverables
  • Governance & Operational Strategy: Site‑specific implementation action plans, progress tracking reports, and standardized Permit to Work (PTW) and Critical Risk Management practices.
  • Competency & Training: Competency coaching plans, field coaching records, individual leadership improvement plans, competency assessment reports, and official certifications for key PTW roles (Issuers, Receivers, Isolation Officers, Gas Testers). High‑risk work coaching reports, critical control implementation reviews, contractor coaching records, and documented quality improvements in PTW and Task Risk Assessments.
  • Administration & Program Coordination: Master coaching and audit schedules, training facility/equipment logistics plans, updated competency and certification tracking registers, consolidated SHE program status dashboards, action item tracking logs, and routine liaison alignment briefs between site teams and National SHE.
  • Field Verification & Assurance: PTW audit reports, critical control verification summaries, leadership field engagement observations, site‑tailored improvement recommendations, and corrective action follow‑up reports.
  • Leadership & Change Management: Documented Toolbox Talk coaching sessions, supervisor mentoring records, leadership maturity assessments, site engagement logs, adoption progress reports, and site readiness evaluations.
  • Organizational Learning: Formal Lessons Learned reports, incident investigation coaching records, structured best‑practice sharing sessions, and actionable recommendations submitted directly to National SHE to enhance broader standards.
Qualifications of the Role:

The ideal candidate for the SHE Transformation Coach role must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any Engineering discipline and possess at least 10 years of progressive experience in Safety and Health, specifically in a managerial capacity within the Power Generation or Oil & Gas industries, with a strong preference for backgrounds in Coal power generation and Oil operations. They should demonstrate a proven track record in establishing critical risk controls, coaching site leadership, and implementing high‑risk work procedures (e.g., PTW) in complex industrial environments.

Holding a NEBOSH International General Certificate (or an equivalent internationally recognized safety credential) is highly advantageous but not required. Additionally, accreditation as a Safety Practitioner or Safety Consultant by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is ideal, though not strictly required.

The successful candidate must combine strong technical risk management expertise with exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively influence, coach, and drive organizational change across all levels of operational teams.
