The Service Crew Reliever is a highly flexible and reliable position responsible for temporarily assuming the full duties of regular Service Crew members, including providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving ice cream products, and maintaining stall cleanliness. The Reliever must be readily available to cover shifts due to illness, vacation, or high-demand periods, ensuring uninterrupted operations and consistent service quality.
- Operational Coverage and Flexibility (Primary Focus):
- Be on-call and flexible to cover shifts with short notice, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to fill scheduling gaps.
- Quickly integrate into the existing team structure and immediately take over all assigned duties, ensuring a seamless transition during staffing shortages.
- Adapt quickly to the specific needs and pace of the stall during different shift times (e.g., peak dinner rush vs. quiet weekday afternoons).
- Core Service Crew Duties:
- Customer Service: Enthusiastically greet, take orders from, and serve customers, handling transactions accurately using the POS system and cash register.
- Product Preparation: Prepare all menu items, including scooping ice cream, making sundaes, milkshakes, and specialty items, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation.
- Stall Maintenance: Execute all standard opening, closing, and cleaning procedures, including sanitizing counters, utensils, and equipment, and restocking inventory.
- Adherence to Standards: Strictly follow all food safety, hygiene, and company service protocols, regardless of the shift or time of day.
- Inventory and Reporting:
- Assist in monitoring stock levels for all products and supplies, communicating any immediate needs or shortages to the Supervisor.
- Accurately reconcile cash and sales reports for the duration of the covered shift.
Requirements
- Reliability: Proven track record of reliability, punctuality, and responsiveness when called upon for duty.
- Adaptability: The ability to quickly learn new procedures, take direction from different team leads, and work effectively in varying situations and under pressure.
- Experience: Prior experience in food service or customer-facing roles is highly advantageous, allowing for minimal required training.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills to interact effectively with both customers and team members.
- Availability: Must have significant open availability and be willing to accept shifts on an on-call basis, often with short notice.
- Physical: Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks, such as lifting and cleaning.
