Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in energy trading, power scheduling, or technical market analytics within the Philippine WESM landscape.
• BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or any quantitative focus.

Responsibilities

• Tactical Strategy Execution: implement daily trading actions to optimize spot market revenue or minimize costs for the RES portfolio.
• WESM Bidding & Spot Operations: participate in daily, hourly, and real-time bids with compliance and operational backstop.
• Advanced Market Analytics: develop price forecasting and quantitative models using WESM trends, demand, weather data, fuel indices, and outages.
• Data Reconciliation & Compliance: ensure adherence to WESM Rules, ECO guidelines, and ERC resolutions; validate SRD and billing discrepancies.
• Team Mentorship & Operations: mentor junior traders and establish desk-level operation protocols; cover schedules during market windows.
• Other Duties: provide technical reports, analytics, and operational support to the Trading Manager.

Job description

Leads the tactical execution of trading strategies, short-term position management, and market risk mitigation in the WESM and bilateral contract markets under the direction of the Trading Manager. Responsible for optimizing the day-to-day dispatch of generation assets and/or managing spot procurement costs for the retail portfolio. Serves as the technical lead of the trading floor—ensuring high-quality, hands-on execution of daily market bidding, advanced data modeling, and rigorous compliance tracking while providing backup and mentorship to the junior trading team.

Responsibilities

• Tactical Strategy Execution: Translates high-level mandates from the Trading Manager into everyday trading actions, optimizing spot market revenue for generation or minimizing costs for the RES portfolio.
• WESM Bidding & Spot Operations: Oversees and actively participates in the execution of daily, hourly, and real-time energy and reserve bids in the WESM compliance registry/trading platform, ensuring an absolute operational backstop for junior traders.
• Advanced Market Analytics: Develops and maintains price forecasting and quantitative models leveraging WESM trends, system demand, hydrometeorological data, fuel indices, and outages to support tactical trading adjustments.
• Data Reconciliation & Compliance: Ensures strict adherence to WESM Rules, ECO guidelines, and ERC resolutions. Validates daily trading outcomes, settlement-ready data (SRD), and flags discrepancies in billing statements from IEMOP.
• Team Mentorship & Operations: Provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior energy traders, establishes rigorous desk-level operation protocols, and covers operational shifting schedules during critical market windows.
• Other Duties: Provides technical reports, analytics, and operational support to the Trading Manager as assigned.

C. Qualifications
