Job Summary
The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the organization’s IT infrastructure. This role ensures system reliability, security, and performance while providing leadership in troubleshooting complex issues and supporting business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Manage, maintain, and monitor servers (physical and virtual), operating systems, and core IT infrastructure
Administer Windows and/or Linux environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
Oversee system security, access controls, patch management, and backup/recovery processes
Design and implement infrastructure improvements to enhance performance, scalability, and reliability
Troubleshoot and resolve complex system, network, and application issues
Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders on infrastructure projects
Lead system upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery planning
Document system configurations, procedures, and policies
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior system administrators
Ensure compliance with internal policies and industry best practices
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
3+ years of experience in systems administration or a related role
Strong experience with Windows Server and/or Linux systems
Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is an advantage
Solid understanding of networking concepts and security principles
Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
