Job summary

SearchApi is seeking a senior Ruby on Rails engineer to be the technical backbone of our product. You will own the hardest PRs, ship production code across the entire stack, and eventually reduce the CEO's technical load.

This is a hands-on role, not management, with high trust and independence. You'll collaborate directly with the CEO/CTO, shape architecture, and build features for billing, API, and enterprise customers.

Qualifications

• Senior Ruby on Rails experience with production apps.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Stripe billing and payments experience required.
• Willing to work remotely from anywhere.
• Strong focus on security and performance.

Responsibilities

• Own the hardest PRs and ship production code across the product.
• Review peers' PRs, raise the bar, and mentor via code reviews.
• Build enterprise features (SAML, SCIM, audit logs, permissions).
• Handle billing and Stripe integrations and subscription logic.
• Develop in-house algorithms and improve developer experience.
• Debug and optimize performance with profiling and tuning.
• Work with native gems and low-level bindings when needed.
• Ship frontend with clean UI using TailwindUI.
