Job summary

Smile Foundation is seeking a Placement Manager for the Urban Livelihood Programme (STeP) to oversee the end-to-end placement process for trainees across India. You will build strong employer relationships, tailor training to job needs and guide candidates through interviews to ensure sustainable placements.

You will also organise engagement events, track outcomes, maintain records and support alumni networks, while coordinating with the national programme team for continuous impact.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work, development studies or a related field.
• 5–6 years of experience managing large scale urban livelihood projects.
• Proven experience leading teams and delivering project outcomes.
• Strong understanding of urban poverty and employment challenges.
• Solid experience with digital platforms and technology-based monitoring.
• Clear communication and ability to engage diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Identify, build and maintain strong relationships with employers and industry partners.
• Work with employers to understand job needs and shape candidate training.
• Organise employer engagement activities such as job fairs and campus interviews.
• Match candidates to suitable jobs and oversee placement progression.
• Prepare candidates for interviews with resume building and mock interviews.
• Track placement data and report on outcomes and trends.
• Maintain relationships with employers after hires and address concerns.
• Coordinate with mobilisation team to recruit candidates for training.
• Conduct employability assessments to identify needs and gaps.
• Provide career counselling on options and progression.
• Maintain accurate placement records and generate regular reports.
• Build and run alumni networks and identify upskilling opportunities.
• Plan placement drives and employer meet-ups with the programme team.
