Job summary

Hammerjack Pty Ltd in the Philippines is seeking a senior payroll professional to lead end-to-end Australian payroll operations from Manila. You will partner with stakeholders, ensure awards and statutory compliance, and drive process improvements within a hybrid work setup.

You will be supported by a market-leading insurer with competitive compensation and opportunities for growth, while maintaining strong quality controls and documentation practices.

Qualifications

• End-to-end Australian payroll processing experience.
• Knowledge of awards, payroll tax, superannuation, PAYG, workers' compensation.
• Experience with accounting supports and processes is a plus.
• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll function for the fortnightly cycle.
• Manage leave reconciliation, deductions and pay adjustments.
• Drive strategy, performance and efficiency of payroll operations.
• Identify system/process improvements and support change management.
• Produce ad-hoc and scheduled payroll reports.
• Build relationships with stakeholders and provide payroll advice.
• Ensure compliance with employment agreements and industry awards.
• Maintain governance and audit standards for payroll.

What You'll Do

• Oversee and deliver the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant processing of the fortnightly payroll cycle.
• Manage leave reconciliation, deductions, pay adjustments, month-end accounting, and associated payment processes.
• Develop, implement, and drive strategic direction, performance, and sustainability of the payroll function, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
• Identify and implement system and process improvements, including cost-benefit analysis, training, and change management support.
• Produce accurate ad-hoc and scheduled payroll reports to support business needs.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, providing expert payroll advice and timely query resolution.
• Partner with the People team to ensure payroll compliance with employment agreements, industry awards, and organizational requirements.
• Ensure adherence to risk management, governance, audit standards, and payroll-related policies and procedures.

Key Criteria

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5 years of experience in Australian Payroll with end-to-end payroll processing
• Excellent understanding of payroll legislative requirements (Awards, Payroll Tax, Superannuation, PAYG, Workers Compensation)
• Experience with other functions of accounting would be highly advantageous.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Knowledge of payroll systems, with exposure to Aurion and Workday (desirable).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; high attention to detail, strong quality control, and effective documentation management.

Work setup

• Manila (BGC, Taguig): Australian hours (6:00AM - 3:00PM PHT) with hybrid setup 2 times a week for the first month. To move to Hybrid, once a week (every Thursday) after.
