Job summary

SMEC (An SJ Group Company) invites applications for an experienced structural engineer to lead analysis and design for waterfront assets. The role covers lifecycle ownership from concept through construction and decommissioning, with field verification and on-site decision-making.

You will mentor junior to mid-level engineers and collaborate with coastal, geological, environmental teams, and marine contractors to optimize subsea constructability in diverse environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review advanced structural calculations for waterfront assets (jetties, piers, wharves, dolphins, breakwaters)
• Act as the Engineer of Record (EoR), taking regulatory and technical ownership from conceptual engineering to construction and decommissioning
• Conduct field inspections to assess structural integrity and verify construction conforms to drawings; make on-site design deviation decisions
• Author technical proposals, manage project scopes, budgets and schedules, and mentor junior-to-mid-level engineers
• Collaborate with coastal engineers, geologists, environmental teams and marine contractors to optimize constructability in subsea environments.

• Structural Engineering & Analysis: Perform and review advanced structural calculations for waterfront assets such as jetties, piers, wharves, berthing/mooring dolphins, and breakwaters.
• Project Leadership: Act as the Engineer of Record (EoR), taking full regulatory and technical ownership over project lifecycles from conceptual engineering to construction and decommissioning.
• Site & Field Reviews: Conduct field inspections to assess structural integrity, verify that construction conforms to design drawings, and make high-level decisions on material or design deviations on-site.
• Project & Team Management: Author comprehensive technical proposals, manage project scopes, monitor budgets and schedules, and mentor junior-to-mid-level engineers.
• Multi-disciplinary Coordination: Collaborate closely with coastal engineers, geologists, environmental teams, and marine contractors to optimize constructability in subsea environments.
