Job summary

ServerHub Inc. is seeking a Senior Linux System Engineer to join our remote-first team in Cebu City. You will manage high-availability hosting platforms, optimize performance, and secure Linux-based environments across CentOS, Ubuntu, and RHEL.

You will lead escalation, automation, and DevOps tasks using Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform, and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Strong knowledge of web hosting stacks and on-call production operations are essential.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of hands-on Linux system administration in hosting/cloud environments.
• 7+ years in a senior role or Level 3 engineer position.
• KVM and Libvirt expertise with extensive experience.
• Expert knowledge of web hosting technologies (cPanel, Plesk, WHM, LAMP/LEMP stacks).
• Strong scripting in Perl, Bash, and Python.
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Networking expertise including TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewalls and load balancing.
• Familiarity with RAID/SAN/NAS and distributed storage.
• Experience in a 24/7 production environment with on-call duties.
• Ability to build and configure servers from scratch.
• Certifications such as RHCE, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or Kubernetes CK A are a plus.
• Good English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as escalation point (L3) for complex server, hosting, and network issues.
• Diagnose and resolve critical system failures, outages, and performance problems.
• Manage Linux-based hosting environments (CentOS, Ubuntu, RHEL).
• Administer and optimize web servers (Apache, Nginx, LiteSpeed), databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL), and caching (Redis, Memcached).
• Build and deploy servers with secure, high-performance configurations.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for provisioning and config management.
• Use Ansible/Terraform or similar tools for infrastructure deployments.
• Deploy and manage KVM, OpenStack, VMware, Docker, Kubernetes environments.
• Support cloud hosting solutions (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Implement security best practices (firewall, SELinux/AppArmor, IDS/IPS).
• Perform vulnerability assessments and patch management.
• Set up monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Nagios) and participate in on-call rotations.
• Collaborate with NOC, DevOps, and Engineering; mentor L1/L2 engineers.

Job Responsibilities

Escalation & Troubleshooting

Linux Server Administration

• Manage,optimize, and secure Linux-based hosting environments (CentOS, Ubuntu, RHEL).

• Build and deploy servers from the ground up, ensuringoptimalconfigurations for performance and security.

Automation & DevOps

• Develop andmaintainautomation scripts (Bash, Python, Perl) for server provisioning and configuration management.

• Utilize Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools for automating infrastructure deployments.

Cloud & Virtualization

• Deploy and manage KVM, OpenStack, VMware, or containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Support cloud-based hosting solutions (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).

Security & Compliance

• Implement security best practices, includingfirewallrules,SELinux/AppArmor, IDS/IPS.

• Perform vulnerability assessments and patch management to secure customer environments.

Monitoring & Incident Response

• Set up and manage monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Nagios.

• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for urgent system issues.

Collaboration & Mentoring

• Work closely with NOC, DevOps, and Engineering teams to ensure smooth operations.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to L1 & L2 support engineers.
