Hammerjack Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior Linux Engineer to join a team of experts managing global infrastructure and network services. You will contribute to design, automation, reliability, and disaster recovery while acting as a senior escalation point for Linux and network issues.

The role emphasizes infrastructure automation, on-premises virtualization, and collaboration with Security and Operations teams to ensure robust, scalable services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Linux administration experience.
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls).
• Hands-on automation/configuration management experience, notably Ansible, Packer, and/or Terraform.
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
• Experience with LDAP/Active Directory authentication.
• Experience with on-premises server deployment and virtualization (VMware, KVM, MAAS).
• Experience using Git or other source control systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving across systems, networking, infrastructure.
• Ability to independently manage technical projects from concept to completion.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, and optimize availability and performance of infrastructure.
• Lead patching across Linux and Windows environments.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and system issues.
• Support monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Develop infrastructure automation using Ansible, Packer, Terraform.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, maintenance, and deployments.
• Support on-premises server infrastructure and virtualization.
• Collaborate with System Eng., Security, and Ops teams on reliability and security.
• Serve as escalation point for Linux and network issues.
• Document configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
• Research and evaluate new technologies to improve infrastructure reliability.
• Manage infrastructure projects from concept through completion.
