Job summary

ERoad Ltd in Manila seeks a Chapter Lead to unite technical and people leadership for its embedded Java engineering community. You will be the technical authority on Java and Spring Boot, coaching engineers, and shaping standards across squads.

The role partners with product, architecture and ops in a SaaS setting, and includes on-call rotation. You will drive AI-assisted development practices, guard against AI-generated code risks, and influence delivery across the chapter while collaborating

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs and cloud-native backend services.
• Experience with automated testing practices.
• Experience leading or coaching engineers through design, implementation, review and delivery.
• Experience setting or improving engineering standards across squads or a community of practice.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools in real engineering work, including review expectations and safe adoption practices.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE COMPANY

As part of continued growth across its Manila operation, it is hiring a Chapter Lead to bring together technical and people leadership for its embedded Java engineering community.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Act as the technical authority on Java and Spring Boot architecture across squads in Manila
• Lead and coach Tech Leads and engineers through design, implementation, review and delivery

WHAT YOU NEED

• Genuine hands-on experience with AI coding tools in real engineering work, including review expectations, context management and safe adoption practices
• Ability to recognise AI-generated code failure modes before they create quality, security or operational risk
• Experience working with product, architecture, delivery and operations stakeholders in a SaaS or product engineering environment
• AWS experience is a plus, particularly with Java or Spring services, event-driven systems, queues and streams
