Job summary

The Didipio mine on Luzon Island is OceanaGold’s only asset producing gold and copper. This Senior Geologist - Exploration role leads geological, geochemical, and geophysical work to grow mineral resources and expand the exploration pipeline in the Philippines.

You will develop drilling programs, analyze data with GIS tools, and liaise with government and local communities while leading a safety-focused team in remote conditions.

Qualifications

• B.S. Geology graduate.
• Ten (10) years’ experience in Mineral Exploration.
• Amenable to 2-year fixed term contract.
• Understanding of Au-Cu porphyry and Au-Ag epithermal deposits.
• Knowledge of current ore deposit models.
• Experience in planning, implementing, and managing drilling, geophysical, geochemical and reconnaissance exploration programs.
• Experience in geological mapping and geochemical sampling methodology, including analysis of data, interpretation and reporting of results.
• Proficient in geological interpretation, geological and geotechnical core logging, data management and target/project generation.
• Proficient in ArcGIS and Mining Softwares (Micromine, Leapfrog).
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.

• Conduct geological, geochemical, and geophysical assessments, studies and surveys.
• Collect and analyze geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to generate exploration targets.
• Evaluate and rank exploration targets and maintain up to date the exploration pipeline.
• Develop and implement drilling plans that maximize exploration effectiveness and operational efficiency.
• Utilize and analyze the exploration database and GIS software to capture and monitor exploration data and information.
• Liaise with government agency and local stakeholders/community.
• Ensures direct reports are properly trained and systems are in place to ensure safety.
• Actively participates and promotes company safety, health and environmental programs and activities.

Job Description

The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.

OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Senior Geologist - Exploration:

• To discover, delineate and grow mineral resources.
• To implement exploration work programs within the various OGC tenements in a safe and sustainable manner
• To identify and generate exploration opportunities for potential business transactions.

This role reports to the Manager - Exploration (Philippines).

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• Conduct geological, geochemical, and geophysical assessments, studies and surveys.
