Job summary

OceanaGold Corporation seeks a Senior Metallurgist at the Didipio mine in the Philippines to lead ore processing improvements and maximize gold and copper recoveries. The role reports to the Metallurgical Superintendent and requires hands-on leadership of the metallurgical team and close collaboration with Operations to boost throughput and efficiency.

• Lead the metallurgical staff to ensure effective lab deliverables for Process Operations.
• Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual production statistics.
• Coordinate with other departments and maintain communication channels.

Job Description

The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper.Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support themine.

OceanaGold is seeking asuitably qualified, experienced, and reliableSenior Metallurgistto safely manage, motivate and participate as part of the technical team, to identify and realize aspects associated with ore processing, to maximize gold and copper recoveries; develop testing regimes and analyse data for project work to realize process plant recovery and throughput improvements.

The role will report to theMetallurgical Superintendent.

Key tasks and responsibilities

• Conducts investigative and systematic testing for plant recovery improvements, cost reduction and/or plant throughput improvements
• Optimizes reagent usage through continuous coordination with external consultants and suppliers on labtest works and planttrials
• Provides technical support to the Operations department to improve Process Plant performance
• Including process Plant monitoring and troubleshooting
• Leads the metallurgical staff to ensure that the metallurgical laboratory effectively delivers results for ProcessOperations
• Reports on production by preparing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly statistics asrequired
• Attends daily Production meetings and weekly or monthly Metallurgymeetings
• Ensures accuracy and timeliness of production reports by utilizing PI and applicable programs with acceptablecompetency
• Coordinates with other departments effectively and maintains required channels of communication
• Make sure the SOPs are updated according toschedule
• Supports the Safe Behaviorsprogram.
• Covers the role of the Direct Reports and peers when on break or onleave.
• Other reasonable duties as required by the immediate supervisor or DepartmentManager
