Job summary

XP Power is seeking an efficient, flexible firmware engineer to contribute across prototyping, feature development, unit testing, and code maintenance for embedded controllers in wired and wireless devices. You will drive design, integration, and verification to ensure software quality and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a minimum of 6 years in firmware engineering, strong C/C++ skills, RTOS experience, and a proven ability to work within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 6 years of related work experience.
• Proficient in C for embedded development; C++ is a plus.
• Experience designing code frameworks (kernels, schedulers), drivers and supporting legacy codes for 8/16/32bit MCUs and DSPs; bootloaders.
• Experience in instrumentation (measurements, calibration, etc.).
• Experience with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, RS-485, Ethernet).
• Experience debugging in embedded/electronics environments.
• Experience creating state machines/flow charts.
• Ability to use oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies for debugging.
• Able to read hardware schematics and data sheets.
• Experience with software development life cycles (Waterfall/Agile/Scrum).
• Experience with version control (Git/SVN).
• Proficient in Python for automation.
• Experience in designing/tuning digital control systems and filters (PID, pole-zero).
• Experience with RTOS such as FreeRTOS, Azure, or Zephyr.
• FPGA experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with MISRA or other coding standards is a plus.
• Familiarity with build systems is a plus.
• Disciplined, detail-oriented; able to deliver robust, readable code.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in product definition, specification and requirements analysis with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Collaborate on firmware architecture and development strategy for wired and wireless networks.
• Design, code, integrate, test, support and enhance firmware for embedded microprocessors in wired/wireless devices, switching power supplies, sensors, and gateways.
• Communicate design constraints and trade-offs clearly to team and management.
• Perform system integration and validation testing, verifying interoperability within the overall solution.
• Engage in all project lifecycle phases—from design to release.
• Support legacy products for troubleshooting and upgrades.
• Work with a broad team to translate customer requirements into robust solutions within constraints.
