Job summary

Tech Mahindra Philippines is seeking a Database Administrator to manage and secure our databases across multiple platforms, while implementing policies for security and integrity. You will support BAU tasks and work closely with onshore teams to ensure reliable data services.

Location: Ortigas, Pasig City (Hybrid). The role requires 5+ years of DBA experience with SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL, plus expertise in backups, upgrades, and performance tuning.

Qualifications

Your Day-to-Day

• The database administrator is responsible for the administration and maintenance of TPG’s databases and for the development and implementation of policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the databases.
• The database administrator provides technical expertise on data issues and perform analysis, design, testing, and monitoring of databases across multiple platforms, technologies, and computing environments.
• The database administrator troubleshoots and resolve issues related to database performance, accessibility, functionality and data integrity.
• This position is highly responsive to the requests of internal stakeholders with work priorities largely influenced by these stakeholders.
• This role involves handling day-to-day database administration and Business-As-Usual (BAU) activities, troubleshooting and resolving database issues (break/fix), performing upgrades and maintenance, and managing backups to safeguard data integrity.

Database Administration

• Proficient in database technologies (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, MySQL Cluster, STS MySQL Cluster, Oracle, PostgreSQL, PostgresMySQL, Postgres, VMware - SQL Server)
• Planning and oversight of database installations, upgrades and patches, back-ups and recovery, databases and objects.
• Monitoring and tuning databases for optimal performance.
• Collaborate with Developers for Technical design and review of database objects asrequired.
• Create and maintain database design templates and requirements documents forInformation Services department.
• Developing, documenting, patching and implementing security configuration for databases tocomply with good practice
• Provide high quality DBA services to both the development and productionenvironments, including remunerated on-call support outside normal business hours.

Quality Assurance & Testing

• With a focus at a database level, implement testing of new database objects and anydatabase changes.
• Respond to reported problems with a timely resolution or problem escalation asappropriate.
• Conduct cross checks on database changes to ensure all live changes are accurate. Evaluate proposed changes to databases and products and work with colleagues to ensure appropriate testing is carried out.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify and propose database and architectural improvements to existing systems.
• Identify and introduce industry Best Practice standards in all projects, work requestsand responsibilities.
• Seek to educate team members and stakeholders about Best Practice whereappropriate.

Work Planning & Management

• Manage daily tasks and projects to ensure work is completed consistent with assignedpriorities and deadlines.
• Identify resource and time requirements of requested work to produce project plansand timelines.
• Evaluate work requests on a technical, architectural and consistency level to providefeedback to stakeholders on viability.
• Participate in planning meetings as required.
• Initiate and attend meetings with team and stakeholders to give timely updates onwork progress and resolution of issues.
• Report progress to team and management.

Data Management & Reporting

• Collate statistics to provide progress and performance reports as required.
• Implement appropriate level of reporting to management on technical and nontechnicalissues

What We’re Looking For

• Must have at least 5 years experience as a Database Administrator using these database technologies (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, MySQL Cluster, STS MySQL Cluster, Oracle, PostgreSQL, PostgresMySQL, Postgres, VMware - SQL Server)
• The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in database management, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with onshore teams to support the company’s IT infrastructure.
• This role is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of database systems that underpin the company’s business processes.
• Expertise in database administration, including performance tuning, optimization, and monitoring.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve database-related issues efficiently.
• Experience in planning and executing upgrades, maintenance, and backup activities.
• Proficiency in managing BAU operations for database systems.
• Clear communication skills to interact with stakeholders and document processes effectively.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to address challenges and align on processes.
• High attention to detail in managing database configurations and ensuring data integrity
