OPEN INNOVATION INC. in Metro Manila is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage, secure, and optimise our database infrastructure. You will support critical applications, implement backups, and collaborate with development teams to ensure reliable data services.

The role requires 3+ years of DBA experience and proficiency with major databases. Exposure to cloud databases and scripting for automation is highly valued.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional DBA experience.
• Proficiency with Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of database architecture and relational concepts.
• Experience in performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
• Experience with backup/recovery, replication, and failover.
• Strong security practices for data access and encryption.
• Scripting for automation (T-SQL, PL/SQL, or Bash).
• Familiarity with cloud DB services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP).
• Certifications are a plus.

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join OPEN INNOVATION INC. in Metro Manila on a full-time basis. This is a critical position within our Information and Communication Technology department, responsible for the strategic management, maintenance, and optimisation of our database infrastructure. As a DBA, you will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our database systems, which form the backbone of our business operations. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge database technologies whilst contributing directly to the company's growth and success.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain database management systems across the organisation's infrastructure
• Monitor database performance and implement optimisation strategies to ensure peak system efficiency and minimal downtime
• Perform regular database backups and develop comprehensive disaster recovery plans to safeguard critical business data
• Ensure data security by implementing access controls, encryption protocols, and compliance with data protection regulations
• Conduct thorough troubleshooting and resolve database-related issues promptly to minimise business impact
• Collaborate with development teams to support application deployment and database schema design
• Manage user access permissions and maintain accurate documentation of database configurations and procedures
• Perform capacity planning and recommend infrastructure upgrades to support business growth
• Stay informed of industry best practices and implement security patches and software updates

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of professional experience working as a Database Administrator or in a similar database management role
• Strong proficiency with major database management systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
• Solid understanding of database architecture, design principles, and relational database concepts
• Demonstrated expertise in database performance tuning, query optimisation, and index management
• Proven experience with backup and recovery procedures, including knowledge of replication and failover mechanisms
• Competence in administering user accounts, permissions, and implementing robust security measures
• Experience with scripting languages such as T-SQL, PL/SQL, or bash for automation tasks
• Knowledge of cloud-based database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud SQL) is advantageous
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Relevant certifications (such as Oracle Certified Associate Database Administrator or Microsoft Certified Associate) are preferred
