Job summary

eTap Inc. is seeking a Database Administrator to maintain MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, design and manage ETL/ELT pipelines, and support our Data Lake and cloud data infrastructure in a hybrid Makati role.

You will monitor performance, enforce security and governance, handle backups and disaster recovery, and collaborate with fintech teams to ensure reliable, scalable data services for mission‑critical financial applications. Bachelor's degree and 2–4 years of experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 2 to 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator, Data Engineer, or similar role.
• Hands-on experience administering MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.
• Strong SQL development, query optimization, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Apache Airflow, Talend, Python, or similar technologies.
• Understanding of Data Lake architecture and modern data warehousing concepts.

Responsibilities

What the Database Administrator Looks Forward to Doing Well

As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining the availability, security, and performance of our MySQL and PostgreSQL database environments while supporting our expanding Data Lake and ETL/ELT infrastructure.

You will ensure the reliability of our data platforms through proactive monitoring, performance optimization, database administration, and efficient data pipeline management.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration

• Administer and maintain MySQL and PostgreSQL databases
• Monitor database performance and optimize queries
• Troubleshoot database issues and ensure high system availability
• Perform database upgrades, migrations, and routine maintenance
• Design, implement, and maintain ETL/ELT workflows
• Ensure accurate, reliable, and timely data movement across systems
• Investigate and resolve data pipeline failures
• Work with both structured and unstructured datasets

Data Lake Management

• Maintain and optimize Data Lake architecture
• Support partitioning strategies and efficient storage formats such as Parquet and Avro
• Ensure scalability, accessibility, and integrity of data assets

Performance Monitoring

• Monitor database health and data pipeline performance
• Identify bottlenecks and implement optimization strategies
• Maintain reliable and responsive data services

Security & Compliance

• Manage database users, permissions, and access controls
• Implement database security best practices, encryption, and auditing
• Support data governance and compliance initiatives

Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Execute and validate backup and restoration procedures
• Ensure database recoverability and business continuity
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
