About the Role
We are looking for a Database Administrator I to join our Tech Services – Cloud and Data Center team. This role is ideal for an IT professional with hands‑on experience in database administration or related IT infrastructure who is looking to further develop their technical expertise in a structured and collaborative environment.
You will support the availability, security, performance, and reliability of database platforms, while working closely with experienced DBA professionals and other IT teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor database health, availability, and performance to help ensure reliable operations.
- Perform routine database administration, maintenance, and operational support activities.
- Assist in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving standard database-related issues.
- Escalate complex technical issues to senior database administrators when necessary.
- Conduct database performance checks and support activities related to service reliability and continuity.
- Maintain accurate database records, reports, documentation, and operational information.
- Support incident, service request, and change activities related to database environments.
- Coordinate with other IT teams and support groups to facilitate issue resolution and operational requirements.
- Follow established procedures, security controls, and data confidentiality requirements.
- Safeguard database information, systems, tools, and company assets.
- Participate in process improvements, operational initiatives, and implementation activities within the DBA function.
- Ensure database administration activities are performed accurately and in accordance with established standards and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in Database Administration or related IT infrastructure support.
- Working knowledge of database administration concepts, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Good attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues using established procedures and guidelines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with different IT teams.
- Strong sense of accountability, confidentiality, and service orientation.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple operational requests or priorities.
- Willingness to work in a dynamic IT operations environment, including possible shift changes or operational support requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise database environments.
- Exposure to database monitoring, performance analysis, backup/recovery, or availability management.
- Experience working in an IT infrastructure, Cloud, or Data Center environment.
- Familiarity with IT service management, incident, request, and change management processes.
- Knowledge of database security and access control practices.
