Job summary

Quantrics Enterprises Inc. seeks a Senior Data Storage and Backup Engineer to manage enterprise storage and backup environments, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability.

You will oversee day-to-day storage and backup operations, monitor, troubleshoot, and root cause analyze to maintain data availability and integrity. You will support migrations and collaborate with system admins in an Agile setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 7+ years of storage and backup design/architecture experience.
• Experience with NetBackup, Commvault, NetApp NAS, and multiprotocol storage.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect end-to-end storage and backup infra solutions using NetBackup and Commvault.
• Manage full lifecycle of storage/backup infra, including day 2 support and decommissioning.
• Perform migrations across Solaris, AIX, Linux, and Windows; troubleshoot storage issues.
• Develop CLI scripts for NetBackup and network switching; monitor performance and set alerts.
• Collaborate with system admins and stakeholders in an Agile environment.

Job description

The Senior Data Storage and Backup Engineer manages the full lifecycle of enterprise storage and backup environments, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability. This role oversees day-to-day storage and backup operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis to maintain data availability and integrity. The position supports data migrations and works closely with system administrators to resolve storage-related issues and optimize performance. The role also contributes to service improvements, future architecture planning, and operational automation. Collaboration with internal stakeholders in an Agile environment is key to defining requirements and delivering effective storage solutions.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities

• Design and architect end-to-end storage and backup infrastructure solutions based on customer requirements, utilizing deep expertise in NetBackup and Commvault.
• Manage the full lifecycle of storage and backup infrastructure which includes gathering, design, implementation, Day 2 support, and decommissioning, across multiprotocol environments such as Fibre Channel (FC), iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS within NetApp NAS systems.
• Perform the technology watch; contribute to the strategy and evolution of existing services, as well as future architecture evolution around communication platforms.
• Support and manage various Netbackup storage products.
• Implement multiprotocol environments like FC, iSCSI, NFS and CIFS in NetApp NAS environment.
• Manage and troubleshoot backup operations (day to day), perform root cause analysis for backup issues, hands-on experience with troubleshooting on restores
• Migrate data for various hosts like Solaris, AIX, Linux and windows hosts.
• Work with systems administrators to troubleshoot related storage problems or performance.
• Perform storage allocations, LUN masking, and data migrations.
• Perform performance monitoring on storage and set up alerts & notification.
• Develop, update, and implement CLI scripts for Netbackup, and fiber switch configuration and administration.
• Participate in planning and implementation of storage array changes including firmware version, and storage virtualization.
• Define requirements and specifications with internal groups in an Agile setting (Epics and User Stories)

COMPETENCIES

Core Competencies

• 7 years of expertise in the design and architecture of storage and backup systems based on customer requirements.
• 7 years of hands-on experience in enterprise-level data storage technologies including ONTAP, Hitachi, StorageGRID, and SAN BROCADE (focusing on FC networking).
• 7 years of experience in backup and recovery solutions using NetBackup and Commvault, ensuring data integrity and compliance across enterprise environments.
• 7 years of experience in managing technical operations and administration in IT data storage and backup, optimizing performance, availability, and scalability.
• 7 years of experience in deploying and maintaining multiprotocol environments such as FC, iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS, particularly within NetApp NAS systems.
• 5 years of general networking experience.

Complementary Competencies

• Working knowledge of VMware, OpenStack, and Kubernetes (K8s) for virtualization and container orchestration.
• Familiarity with Python scripting and database systems such as MS SQL and Oracle DB for automation and data management tasks.
• Experience using Jira for issue tracking and project management in agile environments.

• Open for Mid shift (4PM to 1AM) or Night Shift (8PM to 5AM)
• Training Period: 6 months on night shift schedule (8PM to 5AM)
