Job summary

Manulife Data Engineer / Senior Data Engineer role in the Philippines involves designing, building, and maintaining scalable Azure-based ETL/ELT pipelines and the data warehouse. You will collaborate with data engineers, architects, and governance to deliver robust data solutions and ensure data quality.

You will contribute to automation, governance, and operational excellence while staying current with cloud technologies.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as Data Engineer
• Experience building and operating data pipelines in MS Azure using ADF and Databricks
• Experience automating data pipelines; familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD
• Strong knowledge of Azure services (SQL, ADLS Gen2, ADF, Databricks, Synapse, SQL Server) to design a data ecosystem
• Good knowledge of data warehousing concepts and relational data modelling
• Familiarity with programming in Java, Scala, Python, SQL, and R
• Understanding of Agile Scrum methodologies and experience in an Agile team with Teams, Jira, and Mural
• Experience in data processing, performance analysis, tuning, and capacity planning
• Amenable to work on a hybrid setup (3x onsite per week)
• Amenable to work on a night shift schedule with flexibility for mid shift

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and other relevant services
• Develop and maintain the data architecture, including data models, schemas, and data dictionaries
• Integrate data from various sources, ensuring data quality and consistency, and prepare it for analytical and operational use
• Follow data governance policies to ensure data security, privacy, and compliance
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business teams to understand data requirements and develop solutions
• Stay up to date with the latest tools and technologies to enhance Manulife's data infrastructure
• Learn and implement best practices of big data and cloud computing to ensure scalable, efficient solutions
