Job summary

Boomering is seeking a Senior Commercial Estimator for a London-based principal contractor. The role is remote (WFH) with UK time zone coordination; you will own the estimating function, price tenders from £250k to £1.5m, and work with directors to secure new contracts.

Candidates should have a construction management or QS degree, 5+ years in estimating, strong Excel/SharePoint skills, and a proven ability to manage multiple tenders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Commercial Estimator role, with more extensive experience highly regarded.
• Experience pricing commercial projects from approx. £250,000 to £1.5 million.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation with accuracy.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and commercially competitive cost estimates by reviewing project drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Produce detailed quantity take‑offs for labour, materials and plant requirements.
• Manage the complete tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission.
• Obtain, assess and negotiate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers to achieve best value.
• Prepare and issue subcontractor enquiries and manage tender queries throughout the estimating process.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions within tender submissions.
• Work with Directors during pre-construction to deliver high‑quality estimates.
• Attend internal and client meetings as required.
• Manage multiple live tenders while supporting active construction projects.
• Help develop and improve estimating processes, systems and best practices.
• Maintain supplier/subcontractor databases.
