Job summary

Manulife Financial is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, build, automate and optimize scalable cloud platforms. You will partner with engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable, and efficient cloud solutions across the enterprise.

You will lead best-practice adoption of Azure, AKS and Terraform, mentor peers, and advance CI/CD, DevOps, and API-driven interfaces in a hybrid environment with cross-functional Agile teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of IT experience with cloud engineering and distributed systems design.
• RF: Strong experience with Azure, Kubernetes AKS and Terraform.
• RF: Unix/Linux environments.
• RF: DevOps, CI/CD and Agile software development practices.
• RF: RESTful APIs, web services, and cloud-native apps.
• RF: API Gateways, Messaging, Event Streaming, Distributed Tracing, SQL and document databases.
• RF: Strong communication to influence stakeholders across teams.

Are you passionate about building scalable, secure, and modern cloud solutions? We're looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer who can combine deep technical expertise with business insight to help drive our cloud transformation journey. In this role, you'll design, build, automate, and optimize cloud platforms while partnering closely with engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable, and efficient solutions.

Position Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement cloud-based applications and infrastructure solutions.

• Build and maintain cloud environments that align with security and operational standards.

• Automate and orchestrate cloud platforms using modern DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.

• Develop and maintain APIs, web services, and integration solutions across enterprise platforms.

• Support application deployment, troubleshooting, testing, and continuous integration activities.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile environments to drive rapid delivery and innovation.

• Research and implement emerging technologies to improve platform performance and engineering efficiency.

• Lead cloud engineering best practices and mentor team members on cloud adoption and modernization initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of IT experience, including cloud engineering and distributed systems design.

• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes (AKS), and Terraform.

• Solid knowledge of Unix/Linux environments

• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile software development practices.

• Hands-on experience building and integrating RESTful APIs, web services, and cloud-native applications.

• Familiarity with modern platform technologies including API Gateways, Messaging, Event Streaming, Distributed Tracing, SQL, and Document Databases

• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with public, private, or hybrid cloud environments.

• Kubernetes and/or HashiCorp certifications.

• Experience delivering enterprise-scale PaaS solutions, particularly using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)

• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, Desired State Configuration, and cloud platform automation
