Job summary

Manulife Financial is seeking an Associate Platform Engineer to design, build, automate, and support cloud-based platforms that enable rapid, reliable software delivery. You will work closely with software engineers and architects to implement DevOps best practices and improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in a DevOps Engineer role (or similar role).
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline platforms like GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions.
• Proficient in scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, Groovy, and Bash.
• Cloud fundamentals with AliCloud, Azure, or AWS.
• Strong Linux administration knowledge.
• Understanding of the software development life cycle.
• Familiarity with container technologies.
• Fluent English in both oral and writing.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, automate, and support cloud-based platforms and infrastructure for development teams.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and automation to enhance delivery capabilities.
• Enforce code governance, release management, and artifact management within the SDLC.
• Support pipelines on Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and other CI/CD tools.
• Develop tools and scripts to extend CI/CD capabilities, leveraging AI when applicable.
• Familiarize with modern build frameworks like npm, angular, maven, gradle, poetry.
• Maintain DevOps platform infrastructure including VM, DB, Kubernetes.

Job description

The Associate Platform Engineer is responsible for designing, building, automating, and supporting cloud-based platforms and infrastructure that enable development teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure applications. The role works closely with software engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to create platform capabilities, implement DevOps best practices, and improve operational efficiency.

Position Responsibilities:

• You are responsible for CI/CD automation, enhancing delivery capabilities, filling the gap between development & deployment.
• You need to be familiar with code governance & release management & artifact management & integration toolchain in SDLC.
• You need to provide enhancements to existing CI/CD pipelines and build new CI/CD pipelines to support development teams if needed.
• You need to be familiar with Groovy, Java and NodeJS programing to support CI/CD pipelines running on various platforms. E.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions.
• You need to build tools/automation scripts to enrich the CI/CD platform’s capabilities/features. Using AI capabilities are recommended.
• You need to be familiar with modern programing language build frameworks/toolkits to support CI/CD in SDLC. e.g. npm, angular, maven, gradle, poetry.
• You need to maintain DevOps platform infrastructure including VM, DB, Kubernetes, Macbook.
• You need to use enterprise proved monitoring toolsets to ensure DevOps platform is in a healthy state and prevent potential production incidents.
• You need to communicate with stakeholders across APAC region. Analyze the project team and security team requirements, ensure all CI/CD pipelines and automations are following the enterprise standards.

Required Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of experience in a DevOps Engineer role (or similar role)
• Experienced in CI/CD pipeline management platforms. E.g. GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc
• Knowledge of scripting languages. E.g JavaScript, Python, Groovy, Bash.
• More than two years of experience in a DevOps Engineer role (or similar role).
• Fundamental knowledge of Cloud. E.g. modern cloud providers: AliCloud, Azure, AWS.
• Fundamental knowledge of Linux administration.
• Fundamental knowledge of software development life cycle.
• Fundamental knowledge of container technology.
• Fluent English in both oral and writing is a must.
