Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a backend-focused engineer to lead the development of Backstage backend plugins and services, enabling scalable platform capabilities for global projects.

You will own the backend architecture for catalog, scaffolder, workflows and APIs, and collaborate with multi-national teams to implement secure, reliable microservices.

The role requires hands-on Node.js/TypeScript experience, Kubernetes expertise, and mentoring others to adopt best practices across the team.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend development experience.
• Hands-on Backstage experience with backend plugins and API development.
• Experience building scalable APIs and microservices.
• Strong Kubernetes and containerized environments knowledge.
• Experience with Argo Workflows or similar workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead Backstage backend plugins and services to support platform capabilities.
• Own backend architecture for catalog, scaffolder, workflows and APIs ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Integrate Git, CI/CD, Kubernetes, and Argo Workflows to streamline operations.
• Design and implement developer workflows and automation pipelines.
• Implement RBAC and authentication to protect resources and data.
• Drive design and evolution of scalable microservices architecture.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices.
