Pearson invites a Senior Software Engineer to join an international AI organization within the English Language Learning division. You will design and build backend services and AI-enabled capabilities for education technologies, reporting to the Software Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience with software engineering principles, development processes, and industry trends.
• Hands-on Python experience.
• Proficiency in at least one major cloud environment (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices (code review, testing, CI/CD).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for scalable development.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Experience with data processing and building data pipelines.
• Experience with Agile practices and project management.
• Commitment to inclusivity and collaboration in diverse teams.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and maintain backend components for digital products.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, QA, data science, and engineers to clarify requirements.
• Contribute to backend services, APIs, and microservices with AI integration.
• Participate in code reviews, planning, and estimation activities.
• Support AI model integration and operationalization with data science teams.
• Apply clean code, automated testing, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• Maintain technical documentation for features and procedures.
• Troubleshoot defects and production issues within the team support model.
• Contribute to security, privacy, reliability, and compliance requirements.
• Share knowledge and improve team practices and product quality.
