NYGC Services, Inc. in Manila is seeking a Senior AS400 RPG Programmer to join our growing technology team. This full-time position is based in Manila City, Metro Manila.

You will design, develop, and maintain critical RPG applications on the IBM AS400 platform, working with legacy systems while contributing to modernisation efforts and integration with modern technologies. We look for 7–10 years of experience, advanced RPG IV skills, strong DB2/SQL knowledge, CL programming, and a solid SDLC

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of professional experience developing RPG applications on IBM AS400
• Advanced proficiency in RPG IV, including modern RPG syntax
• Strong knowledge of AS400 database architecture, file structures and system operations
• Experience with DB2 and SQL for data management and querying
• Proficiency in CL (Control Language) programming and system-level tasks
• Understanding of SDLC and application maintenance
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; able to work independently or in a team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to document technical solutions
• Experience with version control systems and modern development tools is a plus
• Familiarity with system integration, APIs, and middleware technologies advantageous
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or related field preferred

About the role

NYGC Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior AS400 RPG Programmer to join our growing technology team. This is a full-time position based in Manila City, Metro Manila. As a Senior AS400 RPG Programmer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining critical business applications on the IBM AS400 platform. This role is strategically important to our organisation as it directly supports the delivery of robust, scalable solutions that drive business operations and enable our clients to achieve their objectives. You will work with legacy systems whilst also contributing to modernisation efforts, ensuring seamless integration between traditional and contemporary technologies.

Key responsibilities

1. Design, develop, and maintain RPG applications on the IBM AS400 platform to meet business requirements and technical specifications

2. Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code using RPG IV and other relevant AS400 programming languages

3. Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance to junior developers and programming team members

4. Analyse system requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions

5. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in existing AS400 applications with minimal downtime

6. Collaborate with business analysts, systems architects, and stakeholders to understand project objectives and delivery timelines

7. Maintain and update system documentation, including technical specifications and implementation guides

8. Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and optimisation projects to enhance application performance

9. Implement data validation, security protocols, and best practices in all development activities

10. Support the integration of AS400 systems with modern technologies and third‑party applications as required

What we’re looking for

1. Minimum 7–10 years of professional experience developing applications using RPG on the IBM AS400 platform

2. Advanced proficiency in RPG IV, including hands‑on experience with modern RPG syntax and capabilities

3. Strong knowledge of AS400 database architecture, file structures, and system operations

4. Experience with DB2 and SQL for data management and querying

5. Proficiency in CL (Control Language) programming and system‑level tasks

6. Solid understanding of systems analysis, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and application maintenance

7. Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

8. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical solutions clearly

9. Experience with version control systems and modern development tools is a plus

10. Familiarity with system integration, APIs, and middleware technologies is advantageous

11. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred
