Job summary

Luxoft is seeking a Senior Analytics/Reporting Engineer to design, develop, and optimize enterprise reporting solutions using Cognos and Power BI. You will partner with business and technical stakeholders across onshore and offshore teams to translate complex requirements into scalable dashboards and data models.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in BI/reporting, strong Cognos hands-on skills, and a proactive, self-directed work style.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience delivering enterprise BI and reporting solutions (IBM Cognos, Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy).
• Hands-on Cognos Toolkit (Cognos Framework Manager, Report Studio, Query Studio) and dashboards administration.
• Experience with dimensional modeling (star/snowflake).
• Advanced SQL with performance tuning and indexing.
• Solid understanding of the BI development lifecycle.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze reporting requirements from stakeholders and product owners.
• Test, deploy, and maintain Cognos reports/Power BI dashboards and ad hoc reports.
• Document Cognos Framework Manager packages and data models.
• Develop calculations, metrics, and drill-through features for reports.
• Configure scheduling, distribution, and report bursting.
• Optimize SQL queries, Cognos reports, packages, and databases.
• Troubleshoot production issues ensuring availability and accuracy.
• Support Cognos migrations and Power BI upgrades.
• Collaborate with ETL/data teams to validate data quality.
• Create technical docs and follow dev/testing/deploy standards.
• Provide guidance to junior team members and coordinate tasks.
• Communicate risks and progress to leadership.

Project Description:

• We are seeking a Senior Analytics/Reporting Engineer with deep IBM Cognos/Power BI expertise to design, develop, optimize, and support enterprise reporting solutions. This position will partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable dashboards, reports, data models, and actionable insights.
• The ideal candidate is self-directed, experienced across the full BI development lifecycle, and comfortable coordinating reporting initiatives within multicultural, onshore, and offshore environments.

Responsibilities:

• Gather and analyze reporting requirements from business stakeholders, Product Owners, and Business Analysts.
• Test, deploy, and maintain Cognos reports/Power BI, dashboards, and ad hoc reporting solutions.
• Maintain and document Cognos Framework Manager packages using relational, star diagrams.
• Develop complex calculations, metrics, query subjects, drill-through functionality, conditional blocks, and report variables.
• Implement scheduling, distribution, and report bursting.
• Optimize SQL queries, Cognos reports, packages, and database performance.
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure reporting availability, accuracy, and performance.
• Support Cognos migrations, cloud modernization, and reporting-platform upgrades to Power BI.
• Work with ETL and data-engineering teams to validate data flows and resolve data-quality issues.
• Create technical documentation and follow established development, testing, and deployment standards.
• Coordinate reporting assignments and provide technical guidance to other team members.
• Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and recommendations clearly to technical and business leadership.

Mandatory Skills Description:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience developing enterprise BI and reporting solutions such as IBM cognos, Power BI, Tableau, Microstrategy.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Cognos Framework Manager, Report Studio, Query Studio, dashboards, and administration.
• Demonstrated experience with dimensional modeling, including star and snowflake schemas.
• Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization, indexing, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Strong understanding of the complete software and BI development lifecycle.
• Ability to independently translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
