Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support daily operations, reconciliations, and financial record maintenance at their Manila office. The role encompasses posting entries, processing invoices, and assisting with audits and variance analysis.

Successful candidates will have an accounting/finance degree, strong Excel skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with teams in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoice processing.
• Working knowledge of general ledger processes, balance sheet accounts, and fundamental accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting or ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet daily deadlines.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information and work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare daily balancing reports and verify accuracy of financial data.
• Review balance sheet accounts and schedules for unusual or outstanding items.
• Prepare and post daily accounting entries with proper documentation and approvals.
• Record accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions accurately and timely.
• Process invoices, verify documentation, apply coding, and route for approvals.
• Balance and verify internal and intercompany accounts, resolving differences with relevant teams.
• Prepare and respond to audit confirmations and provide supporting records.
• Prepare variance analysis reports and explain significant movements.
• Maintain organized accounting records and comply with policies and internal controls.
