Job summary

TeamUp is seeking a Senior Accountant/CPA to join a fully remote team serving technology startups across Canada and the US. You will own the monthly close for a portfolio, oversee full-cycle accounting, and drive accurate financial reporting with direct client interaction.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in accounting, North American experience, and proficiency with Xero and Excel, plus a mindset for automation and process improvement in a remote environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in progressive accounting with full-cycle close.
• North American client experience (Canada/US).
• Experience managing multiple client entities in an outsourcing setting.
• Strong accrual accounting knowledge and financial reporting.
• Excellent written/spoken English and client communication.
• Proficient with Xero, Excel, and related tools; comfortable with AI automation.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly close for a portfolio of technology startup clients.
• Lead full-cycle accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Communicate with clients directly and provide proactive status updates.
• Coordinate across team to ensure timely delivery of work.
• Support payroll, sales tax, and other compliance workflows.
• Improve procedures and leverage automation/AI in workflows.
• Assist in onboarding, cleanup projects, and client onboarding.
