About the role
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting, month-end closing, financial reporting, and tax and regulatory compliance of the Company's Philippines operations. The role is expected to maintain accurate and timely accounting records, ensure compliance with Philippine statutory and tax requirements, and establish appropriate accounting controls and documentation. The position will work closely with the Finance Head and coordinate with external auditors, tax advisers, government agencies, banks, and other service providers as required.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain complete and accurate accounting records in accordance with company accounting policies and applicable Philippine accounting standards
- Record and review transactions relating to accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash and bank, fixed assets, inventory, accruals, prepayments and other general ledger accounts
- Ensure transactions are supported by appropriate invoices, receipts, contracts, approvals and other supporting documents
- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis
- Maintain fixed asset register and ensure additions, disposals, depreciation and transfers are properly recorded
- Perform monthly closing activities and ensure accounts are closed accurately and within the Group reporting timeline
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, foreign exchange adjustments and other closing entries
- Manage and coordinate the Company's Philippine tax compliance requirements, including VAT filings, withholding taxes, corporate income tax filings and quarterly and annual tax returns
- Coordinate and monitor applicable regulatory filings and renewals with government agencies
- Support annual statutory and Group audits and prepare audit schedules and account reconciliations
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance or related discipline
- CPA qualification is required
- At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably including experience in a manufacturing or multinational environment
- Strong hands-on experience in Philippine bookkeeping, month-end closing and statutory compliance
- Good working knowledge of Philippine taxation, including VAT, withholding taxes and corporate income tax
- Strong knowledge of statutory compliance requirements in the Philippines (eg, BIR, SEC, PEZA)
- Experience working with external auditors and tax advisers
- ERP/accounting system experience; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP would be an advantage
- Strong Excel skills
- Good written and spoken English
