Overview
The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and property. The role involves monitoring premises, conducting patrols, ensuring access control, and responding to incidents or emergencies in a timely and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol and Surveillance: Conduct regular patrols of the premises to monitor for any suspicious activity or security breaches. Monitor CCTV cameras and alarm systems to identify and respond to any potential threats.
- Access Control: Check identification and authorize entry for employees, visitors, and contractors. Ensure that all entrances and exits are secure and monitor the flow of people and vehicles on the premises. Respond promptly to security incidents, including alarms, disturbances, or emergencies, ensuring appropriate action is taken. Assist in evacuations or emergency procedures when necessary.
- Reporting: Document security-related incidents, activities, and observations in daily reports. Communicate any security concerns or hazards to supervisors or management.
- Enforcement of Policies: Enforce company policies and procedures related to security and safety. Provide a visible presence to deter and address violations or inappropriate behavior.
- Customer Service: Assist employees, visitors, and contractors with directions or general inquiries while maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor. Handle customer service issues with tact and diplomacy, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. Participate in drills and training sessions to maintain readiness for potential emergencies, including fire, medical, or evacuation procedures.
- Property Protection: Monitor and secure valuable assets, inventory, or confidential materials as required. Inspect doors, windows, and other entry points for security vulnerabilities and report any findings.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous security experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of security procedures and emergency protocols.
- Ability to observe and report incidents accurately.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions in stressful situations.
- Basic understanding of CCTV systems and security technology.
- Valid security officer license (if required by local regulations).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand or walk for extended periods; Ability to lift or carry light to moderate objects as needed; Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations.
