The Pacific Meat Company Incorporated is seeking a Section Manager (Cost & Inventory Accounting) to lead the cost and inventory accounting function, driving accuracy and timely reporting to optimize financial performance. You will coach the team, ensure product cost integrity, and collaborate across operations and finance to improve cost efficiency.
Responsibilities include closing activities, variance analysis, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
The Section Manager (Cost & Inventory Accounting) must have strong leadership over the cost and inventory accounting function by managing the team and delivering accurate, timely, and insightful cost, inventory, and overhead reporting that supports financial performance optimization, sound management decision-making, and compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
Lead and manage the Cost and Inventory Accounting team, providing coaching, performance guidance, and work direction.
Ensure integrity of product cost structures, valuation, reconciliation, adjustments, and inventory control for perishable materials, including expiry, obsolescence, and write-off management.
Review and analyze manufacturing cost variances and overhead absorption, identifying key drivers and impacts.
Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end closing activities related to cost and inventory.
Maintain compliance with financial regulations, company policies, and internal controls within the manufacturing environment.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis.
Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to improve cost accuracy and efficiency.
Drive process improvements and system enhancements related to cost and inventory accounting.
Represent the section in management, finance, or plant meetings as required.
Support internal and external audits, including coordination and issue resolution. And assist in the review and update of accounting policies and procedures related to cost and inventory controls.
Support management in risk assessment and escalation of significant cost or inventory issues.
Review and approve non-routine or exception transactions related to Cost & Inventory management.
Lead or participate in cross-functional improvement projects for cost efficiency and process improvement.
Support talent development, mentoring, and succession planning within the section.
Assist in special cost studies, ad-hoc analysis, and management reporting upon request.
Must be a graduate of Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5years or more of progressive experience in Cost Accounting or Inventory Accounting, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
At least 5 years of supervisory experience or 2 years of managerial experience leading accounting or finance teams is required.
Experience supporting month-end close, audits, and financial reporting.
Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost structures, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and overhead allocation.
Proficient in ERP systems for cost and inventory control, including item masters, BOMs, routings, and financial reporting.
Strong knowledge in compliance with accounting standards and policies, and provide accurate, insightful cost and inventory analysis for management.
