Job summary

Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corporation in Ortigas, Pasig City, is seeking a Secondary Design Engineer to develop and review electrical designs for safety and reliability. The role requires collaboration with engineers, construction teams and clients to address project concerns and support successful execution.

You will perform analyses, prepare technical evaluations and create detailed drawings, materials specs and as-built documents, ensuring compliance with project requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with PE license.
• 1–3 years’ experience in secondary substations design across projects.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, SketchUp Pro, PLS Power Line System, BIM software.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Provides and recommends best value of design meeting operability, reliability, maintainability and safety.
• Develops design standards and methodologies; conducts QA of engineering design.
• Coordinates and validates project requirements.
• Prepares bid tabulations and recommendations.
• Coordinates with Quantity Surveyor to assist in estimates for BOM and BOQ.
• Creates and revises design drawings; gathers data to execute the design process.
• Provides analysis and design calculations, reports, specs and as-built drawings.
• Interprets design plans and executes design analyses and reports.
• Participates in technical reviews of work processes (2D/3D).
• Provides technical evaluation in procurement of equipment and materials.
• Resolves conflicts across disciplines.

Job description

The Secondary Design Engineer develops and reviews engineering designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with project requirements. The role conducts analyses, prepares technical evaluations, and collaborates with engineers, construction teams, and clients to address project concerns and support successful execution.

TECHNICAL DESIGN

• Provides and recommends best value of design which meets project requirements for operability, reliability, maintainability and safety.

• Develops design standards & methodologies; and conducts quality assurance of Engineering design of the projects.

• Coordinates and validates project requirements

• Prepares bid tabulations and recommendations

• Coordinates with Quantity Surveyor to assist in the completion of estimates for BOM and BOQ

• Creates and revises design drawings.

• Gather relevant data/information to execute the design process

• Provides analysis and design calculations and reports, detailed design drawings, material and equipment specifications and as-built drawings.

• Interpret design plans & standards.

• Execute design analysis, calculations and reports, detailed design drawings, product & equipment specifications and as-built drawings

• Participates in technical review of work processes (2D, 3D), perform design review of 3D database and models.

• Provides technical evaluation in the procurement of equipment and materials needed by the project

• Resolves conflict of services of all disciplines

Requirements:

• Graduate of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Licensed Electrical Engineer

• At least 1–3 years of experience in the design of secondary substations, with relevant secondary design engineering experience across various projects, including transmission and distribution systems, power plants, substations, and buildings.

• Proficient in using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Sketch Up Pro, PLS - Power Line System, BIM Software, etc.)

• Proficient in using Microsoft Operation Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project)

• Knowledgeable in Design of Electrical Systems

• Work Location: Ortigas, Pasig City

• Work Schedule: Monday to Friday (8am to 5pm) - WFH setup every other week of Friday.
