Job summary

Maersk Filipinas Crewing Inc. (Marine People Philippines) seeks a competent Second Cook with relevant seagoing experience to join our galley team aboard our modern container vessels.

You will handle provisions, assist purchasing and budgeting, and operate catering equipment while ensuring health and safety aboard. If you have 12 months as Second Cook on foreign-going ships and a working knowledge of English, you may be shortlisted for training and progression.

Qualifications

• 12 months of experience as Second Cook on foreign-going ships of relevant size/type.
• Working knowledge of spoken English.
• Certificates compliant to STCW 2010 Manila amendments requirements.
• Basic ISM/ISPS and security duties knowledge.
• Knowledge of PPE.
• Awareness of Emergency Procedures (Fire-Abandonship-Man overboard-Oil Spill).
• Awareness of Safety meetings, reporting near miss, incidents, accidents.

Responsibilities

• Experience in international cuisine specifically European foods
• Handling of provisions, purchasing, accounting, and administration
• Budgetary control, stock control, storing systems, etc.

Job description

"Maersk Filipinas Crewing Inc. (Marine People Philippines) is looking for competent Second Cook with relevant seagoing experience, willing to be trained, challenged and expand their knowledge onboard our technically advanced container vessels with the best and latest machinery.

A key position in the galley department onboard one of the world’s largest Container shipping company where seafarers are onboarded and equipped to perform and contribute to deliver the vessel commitments. Seafarers are trained and guided in achieving their personal development and career advancement. We ensure to prioritize health and safety, promote diversity and inclusion and at all times carry out the upright practice both at sea and ashore.

Recruitment Criteria:

• Minimum of 12 months experience as Second Cook/Messman on foreign going ships of relevant size/type and trade with various nationalities
• Working knowledge of spoken English
• Basic knowledge of ISM, ISPS, and security related duties
• Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Knowledge of Emergency Procedures (Fire-Abandonship-Man overboard-Oil Spill)
• Awareness of Safety meetings, reporting near miss, incidents, accidents
• Certificates compliant to STCW 2010 Manila amendments requirements
