Job summary

The School of Artisan Food is hiring a part‑time School Receptionist & Administrator to join the Welbeck Estate team. This 0.6 FTE role supports front‑of‑house reception, administration and event logistics, with a pro‑rata salary reflecting 24 hours per week.

You will be the first point of contact for students, visitors and staff, providing a welcoming service in person, by phone or email, and helping ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations across the School’s portfolio.

  • Excellent customer service and organisational skills.
  • Ability to coordinate logistics and work with a varied team.

Current Vacancy: School Receptionist & Administrator

0.6 FTE

24 Hr per week, typically 08:30-17:00 between Monday and Friday with a 30 min break (unpaid for lunch on days exceeding 6 Hr), with occasional evening and weekend work to support open days, events and other School activities. On site.

Location

The School of Artisan Food, Lower Motor Yard, Welbeck, Nottinghamshire, S80 3LR. Own transport essential.

Salary And Benefits

  • £27,515 pro-rata (£16,509 at 0.6FTE).
  • Holiday entitlement: 20 days inclusive of bank holiday entitlement based on working 3 days a week. The Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day bank holidays will be used towards the Christmas closure period for all employees. The School will gift additional days leave to employees for the period following Boxing Day up to and including New Years Eve (Christmas closure). Days will be allocated based on normal days worked.

Role Description

Based on the Welbeck Estate in North Nottinghamshire, The School of Artisan Food is a unique food education provider, attracting students and customers from around the world to a wide range of food production courses.

The School of Artisan Food is a registered charity and as a not-for-profit institution is committed to providing the widest possible access to its facilities.

The successful role holder will contribute to the delivery of high quality administrative, reception and front‑of‑house support across all aspects of The School’s portfolio, ensuring the highest standards of quality, professionalism and customer care are upheld. This role involves working closely with colleagues including the CEO and leadership team, tutors, technicians, students, customers, accommodation guests, trustees and visitors.

Acting as one of the primary points of contact for The School, the successful role holder will provide a welcoming, organised and responsive service for all users of the School, in person, by telephone or via email. They will support the smooth day‑to‑day running of activities across the organisation, provide practical first‑line assistance for a wide range of enquiries and concerns, coordinate logistical arrangements and contribute to a positive experience for everyone engaging with the School.

The successful role holder will be expected to strive to identify and implement administrative improvements across all workstreams and foster a culture of excellence in order to continuously improve administrative processes, customer service and operational effectiveness in support of The School’s mission.
