Job summary

Zamboanga Nickel Corporation seeks an on-site Safety Officer to supervise OSH programs and enforce safety policies across mining/construction sites. The role requires a degree in engineering or safety-related fields and a licensed safety professional.

You will conduct inspections, lead toolbox talks, investigate incidents, and coordinate emergency drills while ensuring regulatory compliance and proper PPE use. Strong report writing and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with safety emphasis.
• Licensed Engineer or accredited Safety Officer preferred.
• Experience in occupational safety supervision.
• Knowledge of OSH standards, risk assessment, incident investigation and emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily OSH program implementation on site.
• Conduct workplace inspections to identify unsafe acts and conditions.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor PPE usage by personnel.
• Conduct toolbox meetings, safety orientations and briefings.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and prepare reports.
• Recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness and drills, including evacuations.
• Monitor contractor safety compliance and permit-to-work systems.
• Maintain safety records, inspection checklists, and documentation.
• Assist in preparation and submission of government reports.
• Promote safety awareness and continuous improvement of safety culture.
• Ensure EH&S compliance for mining/construction/industrial operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science or related field
• Preferably a licensed Engineer and/or accredited Safety Officer
• With relevant experience in occupational safety and health supervision
• Knowledgeable in OSH standards, risk assessment, incident investigation and emergency responseStrong leadership, communication and report-writing skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Willing to work on shifting schedules and field assignments

Certifications Required

• COSH/BOSH Training
• Safety Officer Certification
• First Aid and Basic Life Support Training
• PCO Training (preferred)
